**Description:**\\ With this lecture and hands-on session we will look at the basic principles of interferometry and imaging, and hopefully build up an intuition and understanding of these principles. We will look at some Fourier transforms, interferometer systems, the UV plane and how these will all feed into imaging at radio frequencies. We furthermore look at cleaning these radio images using the ubiquitous CLEAN algorithm. \\ **Software:** \\ CARTA [[https://cartavis.org/]] or DS9 for inspecting FITS images \\ jupyter notebook and some basic python packages: numpy, astropy, matplotlib \\ **Data:** \\ Github repo: [[https://github.com/JonahDW/Interferometry-for-dummies]] \\ Several FITS images are needed for the tutorial, found here: [[https://keeper.mpdl.mpg.de/d/45472094c5454adfa400/]]
