**Description**: Magnetic field is ubiquitous in our Universe, and is critical for a wide variety of astrophysics in the interstellar medium. I will start this talk by reviewing some key observables of astrophysical magnetic fields, and then briefly discuss the progress made in the field of galactic magnetism in the past several years. Finally, I will explore the exciting prospects of magnetic field studies in the coming few years to be enabled by on-going large area radio polarisation surveys.
